Educational programs BPPK
Our clinic maintains a comprehensive and dynamic program of educational activities and events, which is aimed at medical students, pediatric residents, and community health professionals. All educational activities take place in the amphitheater of the “P. & A. Kyriakou” Children’s Hospital, “K. Papadatos.”
Student Courses
Undergraduate courses are held daily from 12:00 to 13:00. The teaching program includes theoretical courses and clinical practice with the aim of systematically educating students of the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in the field of Pediatrics. Professor Emeritus Mr. Gourgotis and Professor Ms. Kossyva are responsible for organizing the program, while Academic Fellow Mr. Antonis Marmarinos is the general coordinator of these courses.
In addition, the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens offers undergraduate students the optional compulsory course “Child Safety Care,” taught by Professor Soldatou. Finally, the clinic trains undergraduate students from other universities in Greece and abroad, while at the same time training undergraduate students from foreign universities within the framework of the Erasmus program.
Trainee Courses
Courses for pediatric residents are held every Thursday morning at 8:00 a.m. The content includes in-depth analysis of general pediatrics and subspecialties, with the aim of providing trainees with comprehensive and scientifically documented training. Professor Kossyva is responsible for the program. At the end of each thematic unit, the trainee doctors take exams (approximately twice a year).
Presentation of Incident – “Thursday Incident”
The presentation of interesting clinical cases takes place every Thursday at 13:00. The cases presented are characterized by diagnostic or therapeutic peculiarities and are accompanied by discussion. The activity is open to the medical community. Assistant Professor Maritsis is responsible for this activity.
Bibliographic Update
The bibliographic update takes place every Monday at 13:00. Recent publications from the international scientific literature are presented by trainees in Pediatrics with the aim of informing and reflecting on developments in Pediatrics. The activity is open to the medical community. Professor Soldatou and Assistant Professor Dimopoulou are responsible for the activity.
Educational activities outside the K. Papadatos Amphitheater
Every Tuesday at 13:00, online courses are held by the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
Every Tuesday at 14:00, joint postgraduate courses are held by the First and Second Pediatric Clinics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens at the Choreio Amphitheater, coordinated by Professors Karavanaki and Soldatou of the Second Pediatrics, Professors Karavanaki and Soldatou.
Finally, as part of the annual continuing education seminar of the Second Pediatric Clinic of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, clinical pediatric tutorials are held, which contribute significantly to updating the knowledge and strengthening the skills of health professionals, promoting quality care for children.
