The 2nd Department of Pediatrics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens was founded in 1975 and was established in “P. And A. Kyriakou” Children’s Hospital in 1976. Professor Konstantinos Papadatos was the fist Chair of the Department and faculty members were Lecturer Ch. Bartsokas, K. Sinaniotis, and D. Alexiou.
Every year, 3,300 patients are treated at the Second Children's Hospital, while 19,000 children are treated in the emergency department.

Time for Action by Health Professionals
ELIZA – Association Against Child Abuse was founded in Greece in 2008, with the sole purpose of protecting
children from all forms of abuse. Since its foundation, its actions have aimed to raise awareness and mobilize citizens against violence against children, prevent the phenomenon, and enable the early detection and recognition of cases of abuse, so that measures can be taken to relieve children who experience the torment of violence on a daily basis.
